Terms of service

Last updated: 26 October 2026

These terms apply when you buy from the Taffrail Press online shop. Please read them before you order. You can save or print this page at any time, and we also email the terms to you with your order confirmation.

1. Who we are

Taffrail Press, CVR 45497305
A Danish sole proprietorship (enkeltmandsvirksomhed).

Address: Høstbuen 69, 2750 Ballerup, Denmark
Email: sales@taffrailpress.com

We can't be reached by phone; we answer email within 2 business days.

2. What we sell

We sell logbooks and journals under the Taffrail Press name. Every copy is printed on demand for your order by our print partner, Lulu Press, Inc., 600 Park Offices Drive, Suite 250, Durham, NC 27713, USA, and shipped directly to you from one of its print sites. Your book does not ship from Denmark.

Our webshop currently delivers to addresses in the United States only.

Product photos and previews show the design and layout. Small differences in colour and paper shade can occur between print runs. This does not affect your rights if a book is faulty (section 9).

We sell to private customers in Denmark, the rest of the European Union and the United States. We don't sell to the United Kingdom from this shop.

3. How you order and when the contract is made

  1. Choose your logbook and add it to the cart. For a personalised copy, enter your details and tick the confirmation box in the cart (see section 8).
  2. At checkout, enter your email, delivery address and phone number. Our printer's carriers need a phone number for delivery.
  3. Choose a payment method and check the order summary: items, prices, shipping and total.
  4. Place your order with the payment button. The order is binding and obliges you to pay.

Before you place the order you can go back and correct any mistakes in the cart or at checkout.

Your contract with us is made when we send you an order confirmation by email. The confirmation contains your order details, these terms, our returns and withdrawal information and the standard withdrawal form. Keep it for your records. We keep a copy of your order as described in our Privacy policy.

Our contract language is English.

4. Prices and payment

Prices are shown in Danish kroner (DKK) for customers in Denmark, in euros (EUR) for customers in every other EU country (including EU countries that don't use the euro) and in US dollars (USD) for customers in the United States. Prices in each currency are fixed by us and are not converted at checkout. The price shown is the total price you pay for the book. Shipping is added at checkout and shown before you pay (section 5). We don't add any other fees; for import charges, see section 5.

You can pay with the payment methods shown at checkout. Payments are processed by Shopify Payments; we never see your full card details.

When you are charged. Each book is printed specifically for your order, and our printer only starts once the order has been paid. Because of this, the amount is charged when you place your order. By placing your order you agree to pay in advance. If we can't deliver, or if you withdraw from the purchase, we refund you as described in our Returns and right of withdrawal policy.

If your card is in a different currency, your card issuer may charge a currency conversion fee. That fee is between you and your bank.

5. Shipping and delivery

Our webshop currently delivers to addresses in the United States only.

We ship by tracked mail and charge one flat rate per order, however many books are in it: 79 kr to Denmark, €9.95 to the rest of the EU and $5.95 to the United States. Orders from 549 kr / €70 / $65 (after any discounts) ship free.

All times are in business days (Monday to Friday, not counting public holidays) and count from the day after you order:

  • Printing: your book ships within 4–6 business days.
  • Denmark and the rest of the EU: delivered in about 16–20 business days in total.
  • United States: delivered in about 11–15 business days in total. Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico: allow up to 20.
  • Personalised copies: allow up to 5 extra business days for your proof.
  • From mid-November to the end of December printing can take longer, so please order early for Christmas.

These are our printer's estimates, not guarantees. We email you a tracking link when your book ships.

Late delivery. If your book hasn't arrived 10 business days after the latest estimate, email us with your order number. We'll reprint it or refund you, as you prefer. This doesn't limit your legal rights if delivery is delayed.

Risk. We are responsible for your book until it is delivered to you.

Where your book is printed and import charges. Our printer sends each order to one of its print sites, normally the one nearest to you. We can't guarantee which site prints a particular order.

  • Deliveries to EU countries (including Denmark): Taffrail Press pays any import charges or customs fees. You never pay them. If a carrier asks you to pay import charges or customs fees, please email us at sales@taffrailpress.com before you pay, and we'll arrange the payment with the carrier or refund you.
  • Deliveries outside the EU (including the United States): any import charges in your country are your responsibility where applicable.

Address changes. Your book goes into production the next business day, so please email us the same day if anything in your address needs changing. We can't change an address once printing has started.

6. Your right of withdrawal (14 days)

You have 14 days from the day you receive your book to withdraw from the purchase without giving a reason. This applies to customers in every country we ship to. You can withdraw online on our Cancel your order / Fortryd aftale page, by email, or by letter. You pay the cost of sending the book back to us in Denmark. We refund the price of the book within 14 days; original shipping/freight charges and return postage are not refunded.

The full rules, the return address and the standard withdrawal form are in our Returns and right of withdrawal policy.

The right of withdrawal does not apply to personalised logbooks (section 8).

7. Discount codes

Discount codes can be used once per order unless the code says otherwise and can't be exchanged for cash. The free-shipping threshold applies to the order total after discounts.

8. Personalised logbooks

Personalised logbooks are made to order with your details, such as boat name, home port and any text you give us.

No right of withdrawal. Because they are made to your specifications, the 14-day right of withdrawal does not apply to personalised logbooks (Danish Consumer Contracts Act, forbrugeraftaleloven § 18, stk. 2, nr. 3; EU Consumer Rights Directive, Article 16(c)). You confirm this with the tickbox in the cart before checkout. Until you approve your proof (or until we print it as described below), you can still cancel a personalised order free of charge by email or on our Cancel your order page.

Proof first. Before printing, we email you a PDF proof. We print exactly what you approve.

  • If you don't reply within 5 business days, we print the text as you entered it and as shown in the proof.
  • If we spot a problem with your text, we hold the order and contact you instead. If we still haven't heard from you after 21 days, we cancel the order and refund you in full.

If we got it wrong. If your book doesn't match the approved proof, or has a typo we introduced, we reprint it free, including shipping. Please tell us within 90 days of delivery.

If the mistake was in the text you approved. We'll print a corrected copy at cost (printing plus shipping, no markup) and tell you the exact amount before we print.

Text we can't print. We keep our logbooks family-friendly and may decline text that isn't. If so, we'll ask you for different text or refund you in full.

Personalised logbooks are covered by the 2-year right to complain about faults (section 9) like any other book.

9. Faults, damage and your 2-year right to complain

You have a 2-year right to complain about faulty goods (reklamationsret) under the Danish Sale of Goods Act (købeloven). It covers faults that existed when you received the book, for example misprints, missing or loose pages, binding faults or damage in transit.

  • Please tell us within a reasonable time after you discover the fault. A complaint made within 2 months of discovering it is always in time.
  • If a fault appears within 1 year of delivery, it is presumed to have existed at delivery unless we can show otherwise.
  • Email sales@taffrailpress.com with your order number and a photo of the fault.
  • We'll reprint the book or refund you. You can also be entitled to a price reduction or to cancel the purchase under the law.
  • You normally don't need to send a faulty book back. If we ask you to, we pay the return postage.

Normal wear from use and the writing you add yourself are not faults.

10. Liability

We are responsible for our products and for delivering them as agreed, in line with Danish law. Our logbooks are for keeping your own records. They don't replace any official document, chart or equipment that the law requires on board.

We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss to the extent the law allows. Nothing in these terms limits your mandatory consumer rights or our liability where the law does not allow it to be limited.

11. Personal data

We process your personal data to handle your order. Read our Privacy policy for details.

12. Complaints and disputes

If you're not satisfied, please contact us first at sales@taffrailpress.com. We'll try to find a solution with you.

If we can't agree:

  • Customers resident in Denmark can complain to Nævnenes Hus / Forbrugerklagenævnet (www.naevneneshus.dk).
  • Customers resident in another EU country can get help from the European Consumer Centre in their country. The Danish centre is Forbruger Europa (www.forbrugereuropa.dk).

13. Governing law

These terms and your purchase are governed by Danish law. If you are a consumer living in another country, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer rules of your country of residence, and you can bring a claim before the courts where you live.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version in force when you placed your order applies to that order. It is included in your order confirmation.
